Our March meeting, which this year fell on the 1st March, was our Annual General Meeting. The outgoing chairman, Andrew Banfield, gave a summary of his year in office, including outings, luncheons and his chairman’s outing on the steam railway.
The various committee members gave reports on the activities they were responsible for over the year. The Honorary Treasurer, Roger Davis, gave a report on the audited accounts for the year, and reported a healthy surplus.
The chairman presented a cheque for £1000.00 to his charity of the year, the Royal Marsden Cancer Hospital. Janet Tobin from the Fund Raising department of the Royal Marsden thanked Coulsdon Probus for the donation and gave us an outline of just how much Marsden relies on contributions from the public, clubs and sponsored events.
Andrew’s final duty as chairman was to inaugurate the new chairman, Ian Payne. Ian let us know that his chosen charity for the year will be The Macular Disease Society. If you would like to learn more about Ian’s charity visit www.maculardisease.org
